Decadence is a newsletter that chronicles my journey to heal my relationship with my own writing. It is about experiences, past and present, that heal me and reconnect me to other people, animals, and the natural world. For me, this often happens through poetry, music, writing, self-reflection, and jumping off into the deep end of wild, magical adventures. Through decadence.
You can learn more about me and the work I do as a wayfinder and artist on my website www.tannakey.com and my instagram page @tannakey.
WHAT DO SUBSCRIBERS GET?
Something you should know about me is that I’ve been obsessed with finding freedom for myself for years. I’ve sought out transformative retreats, travel destinations, therapists, life coaches, life-hackers, business consultants, mindfulness methods, financial practices, body workers, trauma specialists, and just about anything else I thought might get me closer to freedom.
I’ve been able to create freedom for myself way more quickly than I ever thought possible–to the point of my own shock, actually. Cubical freedom, time-clock freedom, locational freedom, financial freedom, mental freedom, emotional freedom, physical freedom, and freedom to create whenever and wherever I damn well please.
On Decadence, I will share stories of how I have cultivated and keep cultivating all these versions of my own freedom through using a whole host of serendipitously acquired tools. They will be stories about the joy, awe, disappointment, and grief I have crossed paths with on my own continuous road to freedom, and the courage it’s taken to experience them all.
If nothing else, you will get from this newsletter an inspiration to show up with yourself as an imperfect work-in-progress. I hope it gives you permission to take your life and your art less seriously, while also reiterating the importance of fully expressing them both as the bold and precious contribution to humanity that they are. I hope it implores you to find the courage to create a life of freedom for yourself and to deeply know that you’re worthy of a life without one single chain.
